Samaritan’s Purse is responding in Indonesia after a tsunami wave struck the south west coast of Sumatra on Monday, October 25.

The tsunami wave, that was estimated to be between three and five meters high, was triggered by a magnitude 7.8 earthquake just off the Indonesian coast. As of Thursday afternoon the death toll stood at 370.

Local partners of Samaritan’s Purse are en route to the area to deliver emergency water and hygiene supplies, including 1,000 PuR emergency water filtration kits and hygiene kits for 500 families. Complicating the relief efforts are rough seas caused by storms in the area.
