Your gifts at work

Operation Christmas Child Many innocent children are caught in poverty and hostile environments, trying to survive while constantly at risk of being exploited. Samaritan’s Purse is there to offer compassion, assistance and protection. Operation Christmas Child is often the first step in bringing help and hope to a child in need. Our local churches and partners find these innocent victims and provide long-term assistance such as aid, health care, housing, clean water, sanitation and education. Health, HIV & AIDS Tragically, an estimated 4.7 million people in Asia were living with HIV in 2008. Around 330,000 died from AIDS-related illnesses that …

Out of the box: How Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes lead to other projects

Just over a year ago, Operation Christmas Child delivered shoe boxes to the children of Bonanamo, a coastal fishing village in Papua New Guinea. Amidst the beautiful palm trees and white sand beach of Bonanamo, daily life was far from easy. Villagers had little or no access to safe drinking water and were constantly at risk of sickness and even death from drinking dirty water. As a result of the shoe box distribution, in the past year Living Light Gospel Church, our partner in Papua New Guinea, has built five wells in Bonanamo and today, the entire village has access …

But over the past five years, the Red River School Project has allowed these children flexibility in attending school …

Thanks to you, 305,976 children had a Christmas to celebrate

Today, in towns and villages across Southeast Asia, the South Pacific and Haiti, there are smiles on the faces of children in villages where our partners hand delivered Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes. A group of announcers from radio stations around Australia and New Zealand joined our partners in Papua New Guinea for a shoe box distribution in December. Katrina Roe, from Hope 103.2 in Sydney, shared her experience, “We distributed boxes to some of the most disadvantaged kids in Papua New Guinea. They were almost all dirty and some of their eyes were inflamed and infected. Many of them …
