Samaritan’s Purse Answers Your Questions

Q: I only packed a shoe box gift. So I’m wondering why you’re sending me a newsletter about other things like water and education?

A: Samaritan’s Purse is involved in bringing joy to hundreds of thousands of children every year through Operation Christmas Child. But most of the kids who receive a shoe box are also in desperate need of water, education and health facilities. Our dream is to see the children’s lives transformed from living in poverty to having a bright future. If you have been part of Operation Christmas Child, then you may share our dream and want to extend your prayers and support to other projects.

Q: How is Samaritan’s Purse funded, and what happens with my donations?

A: Samaritan’s Purse works with local Christian partners, indigenous churches and church leaders to reach out to hurting people. Samaritan’s Purse receives no government funding so is wholly dependant on the support of people like you.

  2. Malawi Against Physical Disabilities

We have noted the work you do to alleviate problems for the people of the world.
Ours is an organization which provides rehabilitation to people with physical disabilities, by providing some with intensive physiotherapy which enables them to regain function in either wasted limbs or limb that have been incapacitated somehow.
We also provide surgery to those whose limbs need surgery in order to be mobile.
We also provide voice therapy to those in need of it.
Hihgest on the list of services is the manufacture and distribution of mobility appliances like walking frames wheelchairs, tricycles, calipers, crutches baby walkers and many others. Malawi being a poor country, the people with disabilities are rated poorest of the poor and as a resultthe appliances are given to them freely and at no cost to them. Each wheelchair costs the organization about two hundred and fifty united states Dollars. There are about ninety three persons with disabilities waiting for wheechairs on our list as we do not have fixed funders and the Government of Malawi only gives us funds for administrative costs.
We are wondering if it would be possible to help us with some of the people on the list so that they can achieve mobility and be able to some things on their own.
Should you require further information or a full write kindly let us know and we shall provide it.
Thanking you in advance I wish to remain ,
    Yours faithfully.

Will you accept in the Shoe Boxes tooth brushes that are in their packaging or with a plastic cover that protects the brush?
It is unhygeinic to expose tooth brushes and I am sure you would not accept a tooth brush from anyone which has been taken from it’s wrapper.
I am from the UK now living in Australia and have been donating a shoe box appeal since the 1980′s.
