Love Your Neighbour – Transform the World
Samaritan’s Purse is an international development organisation inspired by the message of Jesus Christ – bringing hope for today and for the future. We partner with churches, schools and community organisations the world over to empower communities to have a self-sustaining future.
Widely known for Operation Christmas Child, a program that has seen more than 77 million shoe boxes distributed to children in need around the world, Samaritan’s Purse sees our neighbours in need – many trapped in abject poverty – and our instinct is to serve alongside to see long-term transformation happen.
But what makes Samaritan’s Purse different?
There are three compelling factors that set Samaritan’s Purse apart as a genuine partner in bringing healing, help and hope for humanity.
First, we engage with people from all walks of life in Australia and New Zealand to bring a real understanding of our neighbours in need.
Operation Christmas Child has helped thousands of families to switch their focus to some of the most desperate areas across the globe by lovingly packing a shoe box full of toys, school supplies and necessities that will make Christmas for a child living in poverty special. The impact is powerful.
Next, we work alongside indigenous leaders overseas who help identify the greatest needs in their communities – from water filters to new schools and health programs.
Through the shoe boxes and ongoing relationships, they discover and facilitate the aid and development projects that will best serve the most pressing needs, generating sustainable solutions.
Finally, Samaritan’s Purse has unparalleled connections at the grassroots level through local churches and partners. We are committed to seeing local churches, schools and communities at home and around the world inspired, empowered and equipped to meet the needs of their neighbours. As an organisation we believe that focusing resources through churches on the ground overseas is the best legacy we can leave anywhere.
This three-fold approach of engaging everyday people in Australia and New Zealand, working with indigenous leaders and empowering local churches and communities is a powerful partnership that’s getting results. Every encounter is an opportunity to see lives changed physically, emotionally and spiritually.
